The nominees for this years Amanda Awards (the Norwegian equivalent to a UK BAFTA or a Swedish Guldbagge) have just been released, and we are happy to announce that both Amundsen and Skjelvet (The Quake) have been nominated for the category best visual effects.

Filmgate were one of the main vendors on Amundsen and delivered over 100 visual effects shots for the movie. The story about Roald Amundsen’s epic journeys required us to help recreate several historical moments that took place in both the South and the North Pole as well in Oslo itself. For Skjelvet, Filmgate worked on a thrilling sequence inside a skyscraper elevator shaft.

We would like to congratulate our co-nominees on Amundsen: Arne Kaupang (visual effects supervisor) along with the other vendors Gimpville, Varg Studios, and Fable FX. And for Skjelvet: Lars Erik Hansen (visual effects supervisor) along with Storm Studios and Storyline Studios. Also a big thank you to all the artists who helped us in getting this nomination. Your hard work in getting us over the line was really appreciated!

The third nominee in the category is Ut og stjæle hester (Out Stealing Horses). The winners will be announced on August 17th during the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.
