Filmgate Films have co-produced the highly awaited period thriller “Fanny Lye Deliver’d” (2019), directed by Thomas Clay and starring Maxine Peake and Charles Dance.
The film is set on a remote farm in Shropshire, the year is 1657. We follow Fanny Lye, a puritan housewife whose life and oppressive marriage changes when two mysterious strangers are found hiding in their barn, pleading for help.
Filmgate helped realize the film by creating and incorporating VFX.
“Fanny Lye Deliver’d” conjures up a savage and elemental world of beauty and horror. It had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, where it was also in the official competition!
Filmgate Films are proud to announce our involvement in “Rambo: Last Blood” (2019). This hugely anticipated movie is the final entry to the wildly popular action franchise starring Sylvester Stallone.
When a friend’s daughter is kidnapped, Rambo must cross the U.S.-Mexican border to bring her home, but instead finds himself up against one of Mexico’s most ruthless cartels. A deadly journey of vengeance ensues.
Filmgate Films were approached to bring some co-production finance with Film i Väst, and Filmgate AB was enlisted to provide some of the VFX for this production.
“Rambo: Last Blood” will have a global theatrical release on September 20th 2019.
A project that we are very honored to have been a part of is “The Whistlers” (2019), Romania’s official entry for the 2020 Oscars. It was also in the main competition at the prestigious film festival in Cannes, and has since been shown and well received at both the Toronto Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival.
The story follows Cristi, a Romanian police officer, determined to free from prison a crooked businessman who knows where a mobster’s money is hidden. To do this he must learn the the difficult ancestral language used on the island of Gomera.
Filmgate Films’ work as a co-producer on this subtly dark comedic film noir included enlisting Cloudberry Post and Zentropa to do the sound post production and the picture post production respectively.
Filmgate Films and Filmgate AB are immensely proud to have worked on “Tumbbad” (2018), a fantasy/drama that is receiving great critical and audience appreciation around the world.
Not only has it found a cult following amongst the public, it was also the first Indian film ever to open at the Venice International Film Critics’ Week.
Filmgate Films was one of the co-producers and as such we helped finance the film alongside Film i Väst. Filmgate AB worked on some VFX, and we were awarded a technical prize at the International Indian Film Academy Awards for it!
